Ballarat Miners' Scoines crowned a new basketball King
BALLARAT Miners forward Jared Scoines has signed with returning National Basketball League franchise Sydney Kings.Scoines joined a new-look Wes Davidson Real Estate Miners roster this season in a bid to relaunch his career under decorated coach Guy Molloy.
The move followed two shoulder reconstructions which kept Scoines sidelined for 18 months.
He arrived in Ballarat with a season of NBL experience under his belt as a development player with West Sydney Razorbacks.
Scoines notched up 12 games, playing mostly in junk time, in 2007-08, which was the Razorbacks' last season.
Now 22, Scoines yesterday told The Courier he was thrilled to get a second chance at NBL level.
"It's unreal - this has been a goal of mine, a dream come true, to play NBL," Scoines said.
"It's definitely an exciting time up there, trying to get the Sydney brand back into the media."
Scoines has signed as the Kings' under-24 Australian player.
